The internship opportunity is presented as part of the “Digital Skills for Youth” program coordinated by the Independent Media Arts Alliance and funded by the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. Hackforge is looking for a tech-minded individual to support the organization’s operations as a Techie in Residence which involves the management and maintenance of various hardware, software, and web applications with training and guidance.
They say on their website the tech assistant gets to work with the Managing Director and members of the Board of Directors, the Techie in Residence will learn about the systems and applications Hackforge uses every day. These systems will include (but are not limited to) WordPress, physical and virtual infrastructure, and customer relationship management systems. They must be a current student or recent graduate of a computer science, computer systems technology, or similar program also is not expected to have experience in all of the technologies mentioned above, but must be prepared for on-the-job training, self-guided learning, and hands-on experimentation.
